Japanese Government Donates Medical Equipment Valued at K30 million to PNG

​The Governments of Japan and Papua New Guinea through an Exchange of Notes dated 25th June, 2020 agreed to implement the Japan’s Grant Aid Programme for Economic and Social Development for the provision of various Medical Equipment to Provincial Hospitals around the country; under that program has donated medical equipment valued K30m.

• Medical Equipment donation covered under the exchange of notes includes 10 x Radiographic systems, 1 x CT Scanner, 12 x Bedside x-ray machines, 9 x Portable Ultrasound Scanners, 2 x Central Monitor, 21 x Portable Ultrasound Image Diagram System, 20 x Defibrillators, 19 x Electrocardiogram and 19 x Blood Gas Analysers.
• On behalf of the Government of PNG, the program is coordinated through the Department of National Planning and Monitoring as the Recipient and Department of Health as the End User.
• The medical equipment is distributed among all Provincial Hospitals around the country including Port Moresby General Hospital.
• The medical equipment will be used in hospitals to assist with the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of COVID-19 patients.
• The donation was made at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
