MEMBER for Kagua-Erave and new Minister for Higher Education and Sports, Hon. Wesley Raminai says his District Development Authority Authorty (Kagua-Erave DDA) will start rolling out Health programs in the district starting this year (2021). Minister Raminai said this was one of his priority programs encapsulated in the District's Five-Year Development Plan which he needs to have it delivered before 2022 National Elections. Mr. Raminai said his DDA team need to have the existing aidposts witin the district funded and rehabilitated with proper infrastructures and facilities to ensure people especially those living in remotest parts of the district get served well. It is also understood, the DDA will also be looking at funding new aidpost projects established where necessary in the four Local Level Governments of the District depending on the urgent need." The local MP however, indicated that timely DSIP funding from the government was one of the major impediments that every member of Parliament faced to rollout all programs at once and Kagua-Erave is of no exception.
"When I came back to Kagua after winning the 2017 election, I made mentioned to do one thing at a time because it's very hard for a member to do more than 10 or 20 things in a year given the level of DSIP and PIP fundings we get yearly." "Many of you would think that I get full DSIP funding of K10 million in a year. But we don't get that much. We get K1 million, sometimes K500, 000 and at times when Government has enough money, the maximum amount of DSIP funds we get yearly is K2 million. "I never touched that money because as a business man before becoming a Member, I don't get funds and use unwisely and that experience is down in my DNA," the Minister explained. "I have let your DSIP and PIP funds kept in the District's Account and started using them up at the beginning of the three major road projects that we launched last year at Kagua Station." Raminai said if anyone from the district still feel aggrieved on this, he urged that person to go to the bank and ask. "You go consult bank and find out. If you do, I assure you that for the first time in history, you will learn that there was still millions of Kina still being sitting in the District's account and even today, we still have millions still sitting in the account." He said before, there was no such thing as this being experienced. "Once K1 million or K2 million hits Kagua-Erave District's Account, it get disappeared within a month or so. Find out with bank and learn more on this by yourself." But Mr. Raminai said the first thing he did for the District after winning the 2017 elections was to have powerline project reached Kagua station. "As your local MP, I did push through to have this important project delivered and now we have the project delivered awaiting commissioning anytime soon." After that, Raminai said his DDA has embarked on delivering road projects in the district. "Kagua Station sealing, Kagua Station to Aiya LLG road sealing and Mt. Tawa road upgrading and sealing were the three major road projects that were funded under our DSIP components and currently, construction works are underway." He said these projects are funded through DSIP funds to the tune of K30 million (K10 each road project)." Raminai said his DDA is and has been working in partnership with the Provincial Government to have these three road projects counter funded and delivered before 2022 national elections. "Ontop these projects, my DDA also embarked on assisting schools across the District with funding support of K30, 000 to K50, 000 purposely to build school infrastructures. I want those funding be put to good use. If I see those schools put up something out of these funds, I will not hesitate to give more funding support," Raminai challenged. He also want everyone to cooperate with his DDA to have all government's services delivered to the district collectively. Raminai said starting this year, his DDA is planning to rollout health programs in the district as per the District's Development Plan. "I want every citizen of Kagua-Erave to embrace peace at earliest and work together with my DDA to have those projects that we have already initiated and those that are coming be delivered in a friendly environment." The local MP was in his District over the Christmas and new year periods to advocate for peace. "I visited Kagua and advocate for complete peace restoration in district to pave way for the smooth flow of Government's developments and services." "I spent almost six days in the District for this program. Thank you everyone who turned up for this important program and i want this peace restoration program get through all parts of the District to allow for peace and good order prevail immediately." The Minister also highlighted that for record, Kagua-Erave did experience five (5) differnent tribal fights immediately after he won the Kagua-Erave seat. That was one of the terrible situations that he faced thus derailing the plans that he had for the District for at least two and half years. He said it was very hard for a government service to reach areas that are bombarded with tribal fights involving high powered guns. "We must stop this mentality of enduring in tribal fights year in year out," Mr. Raminai call. "Let us all embrace peace as I am willing to take whatever it takes also to restore peace and good order in the district for the benefit of the smooth flow of Government's services that are coming now and those that yet to come.
