A new local pharmacy was open weeks ago in Wabag and it really fulfilled the demand for many citizens there.
A pharmacy was really needed by many Engans to have access to medical precipitins not available at hospitals in around Enga and that let many travel all the way to Hagen.
But according to the JUR Investment director, Mr Ugum said the shop is operation with basic pharmacy goods while his daughter Lyne Ugum who is a Health Extension Officer working at Sopas is working to obtain licence to sell medical items.
“This is a business but very importantly, we see it was a service demanded many Engans especially sick and mothers who cannot afford to go to Hagen.
My customers requested for medical item but at present, we are selling counter goods for babies, women and men. My daughter, Lyne started with her idea. The set up of the pharmacy was also in support ideas from senior doctors at Wabag General Hospital so a licence will soon be pesured to sell medical item,” Mr Ugum said.
Mr Ugum said at present, the shop has three shop assistance serving customers from counter but when licence to sell medical stocks is obtained, an health worker or a chemist will be employed.
According to shop assistance Bevelin Ugum, many people were happy with the set up of the new pharmacy which most recognised as very important service.
“Many women especially mothers were very happy with the pharmacy as all baby products that are not available in shop in Wabag town are found on shelf. And still more wish for basic medical stock, because Asian shops in Wabag town sell counterfeit product and leads to side effects are dangerous,’’ Bervilin said. Post courier
