The Governor for Southern Highlands Province, William Powi, has allocated K2.5 million to Mendi General Hospital to purchase the CT SCAN Machine. Governor Powi has responded to the initiative taken by the UPNG Southern Highlands Students early this year to purchase the needed Medical Equipment. CT Scan Machine is a needed Medical equipment that has been lacking in Mendi General Hospital for years. Hence, the UPNG Southern Highlands Students have identified the need for the hospital to have this needed Equipment. Thus, they have been doing fundraising and have raised certain amount of money already but not so close to the expected amount. The students are now happy to hear that Governor Powi has responded and allocated the funding that students have been struggling to raise. However, the students were also disappointed that the governor did not notify them about the funding he has allocated to purchase the needed medical equipment. The students fundraising committee said, "Purchasing of CT Scan Machine for Mendi General Hospital was our initiative. However, our governor overlooked on us (students)." "After all, we are so grateful for governor Powi for recognising the needed Medical equipment for the hospital and to fullfil the dream that we have came up with."
