AN East Sepik health authority senior finance officer was charged with stealing K15,450 in travelling allowances belonging to 24 claimants. East Sepik police commander Chief Supt Albert Beli said the allowances belonged to health officers who attended a two-week antenatal health care training on maternal health and new-born care in Wewak in July 2019. He said the officer was charged with abusing his office to misappropriate the allowances that were raised for the training.
Chief Supt Beli said K40,040 was raised and that only K24,500 were paid to the participants. “The authority conducted an internal investigation and referred the matter and officer to the police. The suspect is out on bail and is appearing before court,” he said. The National / PNG Health News Next : Commitment To Award PNG Nurses Must Be Honoured: Sansan Comments are closed.
