PNG NATIONAL Pandemic Response Deputy Controller Dr Daoni Esorom says Papua New Guinea is still in its pandemic phase and the Coronavirus (Covid-19) preventive measures must be followed.
Esorom said the National Control Centre (NCC) would continue to work with the National Capital District Commission (NCDC) and the Health Department to ensure that the Niupela Pasin protocols were observed in the country as a primary response to controlling the spread of the Covid-19.
Esorom said a Niupela Pasin workshop would be conducted at the NCDC annex building from Monday to Wednesday and would include representatives from the Health Department’s health promotional branch, environmental health and expanded programme of immunisation (EPI).
He said the NCC through its risk communications and community engagement and public health interventions cluster was facilitating the workshop with the NCDC market management division to sensitise and improve fundamental knowledge on the Covid-19, vaccination and water, sanitation and hygiene (Wash) to 60 NCDC market controllers.
He emphasised on the outcomes of the workshop and said market controllers would be used to drive the NCC’s public health intervention initiatives.
Esorom said the 60 market controllers would be provided with participation certificates signed off by the NCD city.
