Papua New Guinea has recorded 132 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, ending 12 midday on Wednesday May 26, increasing the total number of cases to 15,547. The cases were reported in 11 provinces with West New Britain reporting the highest of 88 cases. East New Britain recorded 11 cases, New Ireland 10, Eastern Highlands seven, Madang five, National Capital District four, Western Highlands three and Milne Bay, Jiwaka, Manus and Morobe a single case each. Of the 132 cases recorded, 87 were males and 17 were females. Their ages range between 10 to 71 years. At the time of testing, 90 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19. The country’s COVID-19 cases is 15,547 with 162 known deaths. A total of 14,555 recoveries have been recorded.
To date, a total of 112, 995 people have been tested for COVID-19. All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases. Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 168,496,686 including 510,636 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
