Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (Kumul Petroleum) continues to keep its commitment to support the government deliver life-saving medical equipment to hospitals in Papua New Guinea as part of its core value to embrace health and well-being for Papua New Guineans. Kumul Petroleum announced today, its donation of medical equipment to Nonga Base Hospital comprising of a Defibrillator with accessories; Portable Ventilator; ECG machine with accessories; Ultrasound machine with accessories and Bedside monitor with accessories are among other equipment. As a result, all four provinces in the New Guinea Islands region, plus the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, will benefit from the life-saving emergency equipment that has been donated to Nonga Base Hospital in East New Britain Province, thanks to the support of Papua New Guinea’s national oil and gas company. According to Dr Ako Yap, Chief Executive Officer of East New Britain Provincial Health Authority Nonga Base Hospital is the Major Referral Hospital in the New Guinea Islands Region, however lacks major emergency medical equipment to serve its patients. With the increasing threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the province, the Hospital sought assistance with corporate partners to help equip the hospital to have the capacity to manage this threat. “With the COVID-19 Pandemic and positive cases of COVID -19 in East New Britain, we have been stretched beyond limit to provide the quality of care to our patients with limited emergency medical equipment. This donation by Kumul Petroleum in response to our call for support will greatly help Nonga Base Hospital serve the people of East New Britain and the New Guinea Islands region.” Kumul Petroleum Foundation CEO William Bando presented the emergency equipment which is valued at close to K500, 000.00 to the Nonga Base Hospital and staff, saying that Kumul Petroleum as part of its corporate social responsibility is pleased to support ongoing efforts to combat and contain the threat of COVID-19 in Papua New Guinea by supporting medical institutions to receive much needed equipment that will improve care to patients. On this occasion, Kumul Petroleum acknowledges the leadership of the hospital and its health workers in ensuring that they continue to serve the health needs of communities in the region. The initiative is a part of the greater contribution by Kumul Petroleum to support the health sector and national response to combat and contain the threat of COVID-19.
