Health Minister Jelta Wong was at hand to receive the PNG students studying in China who were in quarantine in New Zealand for the past 14 days.
They arrived in Port Moresby this afternoon.
Fourteen students arrived while 3 students stayed back because the flight was full, they are expected to arrive on Friday.
All students went through a 14 days quarantine before they were released by the New Zealand’s Health authority.
President of PNG student in Wuhan Christian Tarapa, upon arrival at the Jackson International Airport, says they were quarantine because they studied at the epic centre where the outbreak was.
He says they were thoroughly screened and their supplementary health declaration entry forms were collected for further surveillance by the rapid responds and surveillance team.
Health Minister Jelta Wong says the government will do everything they can to ensure these students complete their studies as most of them are in their final year.
He says they will come up with something this week to ensure these students complete their studies online, or at the Port Moresby and Lae universities.
He says there are still some students in China and the government will use all its resources to ensure they come back to the country.
There are about 400 PNG students and workers still in China.
