The Health Minister, said the reduction in its budget for next year, will help the department strengthen its performance.
The department's Operational Budget is reduced by 12-percent or 44-million Kina.
Minister Michael Malabag, said the reduction will help the department tighten up its operations by identifying savings across all programmatic areas.
He said this will include reducing the duplication of expenditures and centralizing key functions in the Department such as spending across rentals, vehicle maintenance and fuel, stationery, refreshments, workshops, domestic and international travels.
Mr. Malabag, said he is also planning to institute a payroll cleansing within his Department to reduce inefficiencies in the usage of public funds.
He said, access funds retrieved from the exercise will be re-allocated to ensure better performance and service delivery.
