NATIONAL Capital District (NCD) Governor Powes Parkop has advised Papua New Guineans to listen to medical experts and choose a healthy lifestyle. He relayed the message through Treasury Minister Ian Ling-Stuckey who visited him at the Gold Coast University Hospital on Thursday. “The nation’s best wishes are with Parkop as he recovers from a life-threatening illness (heart ailment),” Ling-Stuckey said. “Surrounded by family, Parkop was in good spirits. “He was very aware how lucky he has been to survive this experience. “As many of us know, Parkop has long advocated a healthy lifestyle. “When dining with him in Parliament House, he goes for healthy food.
“Parkop says all must respect fully our medical experts and results of various medical tests, even if they seem minor like cholesterol. “Healthy lifestyles are vital, but we also need to listen to our medical experts.” Ling-Stuckey added that the Government has increased the health funding to K2.311 million in 2023, a 34 per cent increase from 2021. “And we have committed increased salary funding for a steady five per cent increase in the numbers of nurses and doctors through to 2027, and then a 10 per cent increase in health workers each year as our training facilities improve,” he added.
