Islands Petroleum in Kavieng has donated K5,000 worth of medicine to a new village private clinic in the Namatanai District.
The Sagu Clinic, built by a retired health worker, has been operating without any form of government assistance since it opened two years ago.
The clinic, initially built out of bush materials is now serving six villages and has now moved to a new permanent building.
The donation is not Islands Petroleum’s first .The company has been working quietly, providing medical assistance to local clinics, aid-posts and hospitals in New Ireland.
People in Ramat and nearby villages travel all the way to Namatanai or Kavieng to receive medical attention and is a costly exercise, even to seek treatment for minor ailments.
The new clinic once registered with the Department of Provincial Health, will be able to receive medical supplies. PNG EDGE
