The Government’s decision to separate the School of Medicine and the University of Papua New Guinea was stayed by the Waigani National Court yesterday.
The National Executive Committee decision was subject to judicial review when the court granted a stay of the decision.
University of Papua New Guinea claims that the decision by the Government was made without any consultation with the UPNG governing body.
The court was satisfied that the university had an arguable case and granted the university leave to review the decision.
The matter will return to court at a later date.
