The PNG National Department of Health Clinical Audit Report into the death of a teenager and four others at the Port Moresby General Hospital in August 2021 is before the National Executive Council to be sanctioned, before it can be presented to the Coronial inquest inquiring into the deaths. Health Minister, Dr. Lino Tom appeared in person this morning to brief the inquiry on what he has done. Dr. Tom said the clinical Audit Findings were presented to the NEC last week as it is the property of the Health Department and must go through the normal process and approval from the NEC, before it can be presented to the inquiry. The investigation was setup at the request of the then Health Minister, Jelta Wong and approved by the NEC. Dr. Tom is awaiting the NEC Secretary to get back to him and has assured the coroner Magistrate Josephine Kilage of its presentation. That's expected to be done next Wednesday when the inquiry returns as requested by the Minister. The Clinical Audit Report is vital and will greatly assist the inquiry to conclude its findings.
