HEALTH Workers’ Christian Fellowship members around the country will be in Lorengau, Manus, this week to learn about providing better patient care.
Among them were 12 health workers from Northern, who left Popondetta yesterday for Lorengau.
The group told The National that it was the third biannual conference they were attending.
Popondetta Health Workers’ Christian Fellowship president Linda Emui said they had hosted the second conference in 2016.
She said two of their team members had travelled ahead and they would join them for the conference today. “We are all health workers under the Northern provincial health authority from Popondetta General Hospital and rural health services,” Emui said.
“We all come from various divisions of health services including corporate services, nursing and medical services.”
Emui said the conference was an opportunity to learn about applying Christian principles in patient care.
“We learn about patient care, how to deal with their spiritual aspects of life,” she said.
“When patients come to our health facilities how to help them physically and spiritually.
“We are looking forward to learn new skills and methods when we gather in Manus with our colleagues from around the country.
Emui said the fellowship was initiated in 2014 with the first conference held in Kiunga, Western.
This was followed by the second conference in Popondetta. ..The National
