ANGLICARE’s Begabari clinic is now part of the National Capital District Health Services Division.
It follows an agreement signed by Heath Secretary Pascoe Kase, Archbishop of the Anglican Church Allan Migi and National Capital District acting health advisor Dr Jerry Tanumei.
Australian High Commission Counsellor Will Robinson commended the health department and NCD Health for expanding health services to meet the demands of a growing population.
The Australian government has been working with Anglicare to prepare the clinic for its handing over to the Government. The facility will provide a wide range of health services to the rapidly growing population in Waigani, Tokarara, Morata and nearby areas.
Anglicare was established to deliver HIV services in Port Moresby and other provinces. Australia has been a key partner in the support of infrastructure and programming funding since 2001.
It includes more than K30 million funding to HIV education, counselling, testing and clinical management of antiretroviral treatment for people living with HIV.
