Mother appeals for son's Medical

A mother whose son suffers from a tumor and is soon to undergo surgery in Singapore has appealed for help.
Alex Bagil from Eastern highlands who underwent an earlier surgery this year, which had been described by a volunteer at the PMGH, Jack Joseph as a “miracle,” now faces a major step to recovery with costs that his family alone cannot afford.
For years the young men suffered from a mass in his right eye, poor vision of his left eye and headache that also hindered him from completing his schooling.

“Mr Alex Bagil has suffered enough over the last few years and your generous financial help would help on totally curing his disease and give him a good quality in life,” state a medical report that appeals on his behalf.
From his recent operation the doctors removed his eye, operated on the tumor that extended into brain and middle craniums and left part of the tumor inside for fear of injuring it further.
According to the medical reports presented by Neurosurgeon Benjamin Thomas, Alex first arrived at the Port Moresby General Hospital with poor vision and head-ache but has made a “miracle” recovery from his recent operation.
Mr Joseph, who has volunteered his free time helping the mother and son said it was through prayer and faith that Alex survived the surgery.
“It was a fifty- fifty operation; he was given the choice to face the risky operation and wait or to disregard being operated and to go home, wait and die.”
Joseph who prayed the evening before Alex’s operation believed it was the divine power of God that had healed him.
“I have never seeing anything like that before, this young man came last year to the hospital and was unable to walk, talk and move his body at all but after the surgery it was surprising to find him outside the theatre smiling and moving as if he had never suffered any sickness.”
But even with his successful operation he would need to undergo surgeries to remove the tumor from his eye for a complete recovery.
“Alex is positive young men who always try to help others no matter his situation,” says Mr Joseph who has witnessed the young men helping others in ward 2D and 2C.
Alex will require six weeks of checkups while in Singapore which will cost around K100, 000 including fees for consultation reviews and accommodation. Post Courier
