The Role
Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety, and Security, the incumbent would develop and manage the Mine Medical facility to ensure the wellbeing of the employees, and to respond to patients and trauma in a timely manner ensuring minimal productive downtime at the Woodlark Operations site including contract business partners as well as ensuring the wellbeing of local Woodlark communities.
This is a FIFO (or Local) position on a 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster (the roster will be amended during the operational phase of the project) for a PNG Citizen. Preferred Points of Hire are Woodlark, Alotau, Port Moresby, and Lae.

Key roles and responsibilities include

• Practicing medical duties at the Mine Medical Clinic.
• Overseeing efficient operations of the Mine Medical Clinic
• Attending to medical emergencies.
• Managing medication and drug orders and security.
• Reporting medical statistics to Manager Health, Safety and Security on a daily, weekly, monthly basis or as requested.
• Maintaining employees medical reports, treatments and necessary care and assistance given
• Providing health education and awareness to the workforce and surrounding community.
• Working alongside the Emergency Response Team to establish intensive care and trauma center in an emergency.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of remote mobile medical assistance as a responsibility to human lives and maintaining good community relations.
• Providing training and coaching to Emergency Response Team as well as Team members.
• 24 Hour call duty when on site (No alcohol consumption allowed)
• Trauma Response - Must be ready to always respond to an emergency. (24 hours)
• Commissioning Health Patrols to remote areas/villages and working alongside current community Health Programs.
• Keeping constant communications with the local Community Health Centre and ready to assist when required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience required

• Behavior consistent with Geopacific’s Values
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a similar role preferably in extractive industries
• Formal qualifications issued by Registered Academic institution in emergency medicine
• Cert III in Mine Emergency Response Rescue
• CERT VI in Training ad Assessment (or similar)
• Previous experience treating a diverse workforce and Community
• Previous experience operating a medical clinic and supervising medical staff
• An excellent knowledge of Health and Safety Practices and proven experience in establishing and implementing systems
• Good managerial skills and know-how to deal with community relations works and should know how to analyze existing methods and implement improvements.
• A good knowledge of Mine Operations
• Excellent computer, communication, and writing skills.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
