Health facilities in the three districts of Western Province are facing a shortage of medical drugs and supplies.
The Western Provincial Health Authority has arranged for temporary medical supplies including essential drugs to health facilities including Kiunga district hospital to meet the current shortage on the ground.
The North Fly District has also moved in to address this issue.
North Fly District Health manager, Roddy Ukin says Western Provincial Health Authority in its efforts, chartered a MAF aircraft to uplift supplies of essential drugs need at Kiunga district hospital from Daru hospital.
He says the efforts by Western PHA are temporary and will only meet the current shortage on the ground.
Ukin says the Kiunga District hospital and other facilities in the province were expecting a shipment of medical drugs to arrive this week from the Area Medical Store in Port Moresby.
